Asian Pacific Heritage Month May 2014
The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America’s history and are instrumental in its future success. As Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month draws to a close SGT Bryan Spradlin brings us the story of the 442nd Infantry Regimental Combat Team, an all Japanese-American fighting force in the Second World War, and how they overcame adversity at home to become one of the most decorated units in U.S. Army History.
The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and the U.S. Department of the Interior hosted the AAPI Heritage Month Opening Ceremony in Washington DC, May 6, 2014.
